Andrea is the first product in the Mathieu Lehanneur Bel-Air family of highly-efficient biological air filters. Designed around the potential for site-specific air filtration using plants with natural absorptive properties, Andrea brings fresh air and stylish design into the home and office.
The creators of Andrea, French designer Mathieu Lehanneur and Harvard professor David Edwards, have developed a new form of air filtration that circulates dirty air past absorptive surfaces of plants faster and more effectively than previous plant-based filter designs, thereby rendering practically effective the capacity of living plants to absorb and metabolize noxious gases.
Following its exhibition at the art and design center Le Laboratoire in Paris, Bel-Air was presented at the Museum of Modern Art in New York at the 'Design and the Elastic Mind' exhibition in spring 2008. Bel-Air was also named 'Invention of the Year' in Popular Science magazine.
Andrea goes on sale on September 15th 2009. Please check back on July 15th to pre-order Andrea.
